I love having a good toast with jam for breakfast. Since today I had a cake and I put the strawberry jam that I made yesterday. How delicious !!!!!
In the market stalls you can see strawberries and strawberries in boxes placed as if they were flowers all red and appetizing. Homemade jam is worth making because it has a special flavor. The better the fruit and the more ripe the better it will come out.
- 1.5 kg of strawberries already clean
- 500 kg of sugar
- A big apple
- The juice of a lemon
We remove the peduncle from the strawberries, wash them and cut them into four pieces. We mix them with the sugar and the lemon juice and let them marinate all night so that they release their juice.
The next day we put them to cook together with an apple peeled and cut into very small pieces with the seeds and the core. The apple will be the natural thickener and will disappear. It will not be distinguished from the strawberry since it will take on the beautiful dark red color of the jam.
Let cook over moderate heat for about an hour and a half. The time will depend on the type of strawberry and the amount of juice they release.
The jam is when it is a little solid. We can put a teaspoon on a plate and let it cool and see the texture that is left.
We distribute the jam in glass jars, when it is still hot. We help ourselves with a small pot or a funnel. We cover them and let them cool turned over so that the vacuum is made and they are better preserved. Anyway they will not last long I guarantee it.
