steamed vegetables

Boiling vegetables in the pot is a simple dish. It is perfect if you are in a hurry or if you want to eat healthy and with few calories. The typical one has green beans, carrots, onion and potatoes, but you can make variations and remove or put some other vegetables such as leeks, artichokes or broccoli. This time I did it only with beans, onions and potatoes.

It is important to know that the most practical thing is to do it in the pot. I have the WMF. To steam I put 350 ml of water and place the basket that brings the pot on its tripod. Cooking time is 8 minutes. The basket is valid for almost all the pots on the market. It has a diameter of 21 cm and most pots have a diameter of 22 cm. That is, it is valid for the majority.

If you prefer you can do it following the traditional method in a saucepan. Then keep in mind that the cooking time is approximately 25 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • 550 gr of green beans
  • An onion
  • 3 potatoes

Elaboration:

The chopped vegetables must be placed in the basket. We put the water in the pot, place the tripod and on top the basket. We cover the pot and let the two rings rise and leave 8 minutes. We separate and let the steam come out little by little, putting the handle closure in half, thus releasing the steam little by little.

We arrange the vegetable in a source and salt. It is accompanied with extra virgin olive oil. If someone wants, they can add it with mayonnaise or fried tomato. At home we also like it with hard-boiled eggs broken into quarters, it gives it a touch. Enjoy your meal.
