Mussels In Sauce

This dish is delicious and very easy. You will surprise your family with a party dish. It is also very healthy and cheap.


  • A kilo of mussels
  • An Italian green pepper
  • Chives
  • A pot of homemade fried tomato
  • Cayenne pepper
  • A little white wine


You have to clean them well. Now there are some centrifuge machines in the fishmongers and they give them to you already clean on the outside. You save yourself a lot of work.

We wash them well, discarding the ones that are open and the broken ones. Here I leave you a link with tips for handling and cleaning mussels.

We are going to cook the mussels; We put them in a saucepan without water, cover it and remove the ones that open. Strain the broth that they have released and reserve it. We let them cool a little, we remove a leaflet and we clean the beards.

To make the sauce, chop the onion and the pepper very fine and poach it in a saucepan with a stream of olive oil along with the whole cayenne pepper. If we like it more spicy, we can add it crushed or even add two. Then we add the fried tomato, the broth, a little white wine and the mussels. Let it cook for about 10 minutes over low heat.
