Brussels sprouts with potatoes

Brussels sprouts with gratin potatoes

We are in the middle of the Brussels sprouts season and we can find them in the market. I have been encouraged to do them because consuming seasonal food is always a good idea. I am also lucky that my husband loves them and that my son is always ready to try all kinds of vegetables. This recipe is very smooth when combining the cabbages with the potatoes, the bacon and the cheese.

  • 500 Kg of Brussels sprouts
  • Two potatoes
  • 100 gr of bacon
  • Two garlic cloves
  • Grated cheese

We clean the cabbages and wash them. We put them to cook in salted water until tender, about 25 minutes. While the cabbages are cooking, turn on the oven and peel the potatoes. Cut them into thin slices, put them in a bowl, add salt and a drizzle of olive oil and stir well. We put them in a source and put them in the oven at 200ºC for about 20 minutes. Then brown the garlic in a pan, once golden add the bacon, when it is crisp add the cabbages and continue to sauté. We remove the potatoes from the oven and place the cabbages on top, put a little pepper, sprinkle with grated cheese and put it in the oven for about 20 minutes, until the cheese is golden. They are delicious!
