It is in fact one of those recipes created ah hoc for abroad. Are you a little disappointed, huh !? Talking about fried ice cream arouses various reactions, those who have never tasted it think that it is something impossible to achieve, and those who find it in front of it begin to dissect it to discover what magic envelops this little delight, the magic is called sandwich bread! It is very simple to prepare, you only need a few hours to harden the portions of ice cream in the freezer. But once prepared you can keep it in the freezer and serve it whenever you want. Try it!
Ingredients for 4 fried ice creams
- vanilla (or chocolate) ice cream
- 4 slices of bread for sandwiches (or toast without crust)
- 1/2 glass of sparkling water
- 4 tablespoons of 00 flour
- sunflower oil
- cling film
How to Make Homemade Chinese Fried Ice Cream
Prepare 4 sheets of cling film on the work surface (not too large, they should easily contain a scoop of ice cream), with the ice cream portioner, or with a spoon, take the vanilla ice cream and place it in the center of the cling film, ball must be a little larger than the classic portions made with the portioner
close the film like bundle tightly tighten the closure of the bundle and create the balls with your hands or by rolling the bundles on the work surface. Place in the freezer for 2 hours.
After 2 hours roll out the bread for sandwiches with a rolling pin to make it thinner and more compact. Cut 4 more sheets of cling film and arrange them on the work surface. Take the scoops of ice cream from the freezer, remove the film that wraps them and place the ice cream in the center of the sandwich bread,
wrap the sliced bread around the ice cream compacting well and trying to avoid areas that are not completely wrapped; wrap these balls again in cling film (take new sheets). Put in the freezer for at least another 2 hours or until needed.
After 2 hours, prepare a simple batter with sparkling water and 00 flour, the consistency should be sticky and not too liquid but not too thick, something in between.
Put a saucepan on the stove with about 10 cm of oil, heat the oil while you prepare the batter. Remove the film from the scoops of ice cream and loaf bread and dip them in the batter, and then in the hot oil, fry until lightly browned.
Put on a sheet of absorbent paper for food and serve immediately.
NB if you want to keep the fried ice cream, you have to keep the balls with the bread for sandwiches in the freezer and a few moments before serving it you have to prepare the batter and fry.
And your Chinese fried ice cream is ready! Enjoy your meal!
