Bacon Wrapped Sausage Recipe

The bacon-wrapped sausages They are a perfect brunch or breakfast dish, served with scrambled eggs, toast and a fruit salad. They can also be a good lunch when served with vegetables or a steamed vegetable side.

Ingredients for making wrapped sausages

¾ lb Regular bacon

one lb Small smoked sausages

Cup of brown sugar

¼ Maple Syrup Cup

¼ Teaspoon of pepper

How to make wrapped sausages

1.- Preheat oven to 400 F. Cut slices of bacon in half, cross-shaped, to make short strips. Fry the bacon in a pan large over medium heat until part of the fat has been lost but the bacon remains flexible. Don’t let the bacon get crispy or you won’t be able to wrap it around the sausages.

2.- Put the bacon on paper towels and chill it for 5 minutes. Wrap each sausage with a piece of precooked bacon and secure with a toothpick. Put the sugar in a bowl and roll up each little sausage and the bacon package in it. Place the sausages on a wire rack.

3.- Place the rack on a 13 x 9-inch baking sheet lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Spray on Maple syrup over the sausages and sprinkle with the pepper.

4.- Bake the bacon-wrapped sausages during 30 minutes, or until the sausages are hot and the bacon is crisp. Remove rack from pan and cool wrapped sausage packs for 5 minutes before serving them.

5.- Always use the wire rack. The drips from the bacon and sugar burn easily; keeping sausages away from drips prevents them from burning too. Serve the Wrapped sausages with sauces to your liking and enjoy!
